Bookmark and Share

Aston, Pa. – For the second time since 2004-05, Cabrini College has earned all three Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) President’s Cups, sweeping the competition for the Overall, Men’s and Women’s Awards. The Cavaliers took home the Men’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Golf, Men’s Lacrosse and Women’s Lacrosse championship titles, and finished as the conference runner-up in Field Hockey, Women’s Tennis, Volleyball and Men’s Basketball.

Overall, Cabrini achieved 85.18 percent of its potential President’s Cup points, besting the nearest competitor by more than twelve percentage points. Rounding out the top three are Gwynedd-Mercy College with 72.87 percent and Marywood University with 66.81 percent of their respective potential points.

In the race for the Women’s Cup, the Cavaliers led the pack at the conclusion of the winter season and sealed the deal by winning the CSAC Women’s Lacrosse Championship this spring. Cabrini totaled 82.70 percent of their total possible points in women’s sports, finishing four percentage points ahead of Gwynedd-Mercy. The Griffins took second place with 78.30 percent of their total possible points. Championship titles in Field Hockey, Volleyball and Softball secured Neumann University’s spot in the top three, and they round out the trio with 72.81 percent of their total possible points.

In the Men’s Cup competition, Cabrini took an early lead after the fall and winter seasons, with a championship win in Men’s Soccer and a runner-up plaque in Men’s Basketball. Championship titles in Golf and Men’s Lacrosse propelled the Cavaliers to a first-place finish, with 88.49 percent and a comfortable 22-point lead over the next competitor. Gwynedd-Mercy placed second with 66.67 percent and conference newcomer, Keystone College, finished in third with 64.19 percent of their possible points.

The President’s Cup is awarded annually to the Men’s, Women’s and Overall athletics programs with the highest competitive percentage rating, based on championship finish and regular season play. Institutional scores are calculated using a graduated point system, with each participating institution earning a pro-rated share based on conference finish. The competitive percentage rating is determined by dividing the total number of points an institution earned by the total possible points.
