Port St. Lucie, Fla. -- Following the first round of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships, the Cabrini College Golf team is tied for 25th overall out of 38 teams. Freshman Chris Sarvadi (Carrollton, Texas / Carrollton Christian Academy) led the Cavaliers on day one, shooting a 1-over round of 73. Out of 185 golfers, Sarvadi is tied for 32nd overall at the end of day one.
Senior Tim Harner shot 5-over, while classmate Conor Trainor carded an 8-over round. Junior Chris Lawler (+11) and sophomore Mike Ryan (+13) completed Cabrini’s five-man line-up.
Host Methodist University (-9) leads the team standings after day one. St. John’s (Minn.) University (E) lists second. Skidmore College (+3) and Texas at Tyler (+3) are tied in third place.
Methodist’s Tom Cooper (-5) and University of La Verne’s Mitchell Fedorka (-5) lead the individual field after the first 18 holes. John Polingo from St. John’s shot 4-under.
Cabrini (+25) continues day two of the NCAA Championship on Thursday, teeing off at 7:50 a.m.
