CSAC Announces Women's Basketball Regular Season Awards

Aston, PA February 22, 2010 – The Colonial States Athletic Conference announced the recipients of the Player, Rookie, and Coach of the year; First, Second and Honorable Mention All-Conference teams and individual sportsmanship awards for women’s basketball.

 Neumann University’s Brittany Whetts (Forward, Philadelphia PA/Bartram) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Year for the second year in a row. After regular season play Whetts started in 24 games, including 14 conference games. She leads the conference in scoring with 23.2 points per game. The senior forward averaged 9.4 rebounds per game and shot .721% in free throws in league play.  Whetts became the all-time leading scorer in Neumann University’s history surpassing Tim McKees mark of 1,691 from 1993 this season.
 
Immaculata University’s Chrissy Esbensen (Guard, Royersford, PA / St. Pius X) was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s 2009-2010 Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Year. The freshman starting point guard leads the CSAC in minutes played (39.1) and is second in league-only in assists (4.2) but first overall (5.0). Esbensen is 21st in scoring (10.5) and 13th in free throw percentage (.717).
 
Neumann University’s Frank Farnese was named the Colonial States Athletic Conference’s 2009-2010 Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. In his fifth year at Neumann University head Coach Farnese has lead the team to a 63-56 overall record and 42-21 mark in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Farnese will lead his team as the #1 seed into the CSAC Championships.
