CSAC Adds New Member for 2019-20
ASTON, Pa.-- The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Board of Directors has confirmed the acceptance of the College of St. Elizabeth as a full member of the conference, effective July 1, 2019. The College of St. Elizabeth will begin competition as a member of the CSAC beginning in the 2019-20 academic year along with Bryn Athyn College, Cairn University, Cedar Crest College, Centenary University, Clarks Summit University, Keystone College, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Rosemont College and Wilson College.
“We are extremely pleased that the College of St. Elizabeth will be joining the Colonial States Athletic Conference,” said Dr. David Haney, Centenary University President and Chair of the CSAC Board of Directors. “CSE will be a great partner and will complement our current members in mission, sports sponsorships and geographical proximity. We look forward to a future of growth in opportunities for our student-athletes.”
“The CSAC is thrilled to welcome the College of St. Elizabeth into the CSAC beginning in 2019-20,” said CSAC Commissioner Adrienne Mullikin. “The institutional goals for the CSE athletic programs, both short and long term, align well with those of the other nine CSAC institutions. I believe the College of St. Elizabeth will be a valuable addition to the conference from both an athletic and academic standpoint.”
The College of St. Elizabeth currently sponsors 11 intercollegiate varsity programs (five men’s, six women’s) at the NCAA Division III level, 10 of which align with current CSAC sponsorships. The Eagles will compete in the CSAC in men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and women’s volleyball. Additionally, St. Elizabeth plans to add baseball to its sport sponsorship in 2019-20 which would bring the institution’s total program sponsorship in the CSAC to 11 sports. Established in 1899 as a private, liberal-arts women’s college, St. Elizabeth transitioned to a fully coeducational institution in 2016.
“We are thrilled by the invitation to join the Colonial States Athletic Conference,” stated St. Elizabeth President Dr. Helen Streubert. “We believe that this opportunity will give our student-athletes a level of competition commensurate with our size and investment in athletics. We are very much looking forward to our first competition in the CSAC in 2019.”
The CSAC was founded in 1992 as the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference and was rebranded as the Colonial States Athletic Conference in 2008. The CSAC sponsors 17 men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports in NCAA Division III, including men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s outdoor track and field and men’s golf.
