Keystone picked first in CSAC Men's Soccer preseason poll
ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Keystone College men’s soccer team was the top pick of the coaches in the 2018 Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) preseason coaches’ poll that was released on Tuesday morning.
The Giants, who advanced to the CSAC title game last season, finished with 48 points and six of the seven first-place votes. The Giants were selected as the top team by the coaches in the conference, who were permitted to vote for their own teams.
“We are honored to be voted as the CSAC favorite this season,” expressed Keystone head coach
Joe Schneck. “Anytime there’s transition in a conference, it makes for an exciting year for everyone and we will have to be at our best every single game. We can’t wait to get started.”
Centenary University, the 2016 CSAC Champion, was picked second with 41 points and one first-place vote. Cairn University was third with 36 points, followed by Wilson College with 24 and Bryn Athyn College with 18.
Clarks Summit University received 16 points, while Rosemont College earned 13 points to round out the poll.
All seven teams start the season on Friday, August 31, with the first match pitting Bryn Athyn on the road at Penn State Harrisburg starting at noon.
The CSAC slate starts on Friday, September 21, as Rosemont hosts Bryn Athyn at 6 p.m. That will mark the first CSAC contest in men’s soccer for the Lions, who joined the conference as a core member this season.
Two other matches take place on Saturday, September 22, as Cairn will travel to Keystone, while Centenary will take on Clarks Summit. Wilson plays its first CSAC contest on Saturday, September 29, when the Phoenix host Rosemont.
The CSAC playoffs, featuring the top four teams in the conference at the completion of conference play, will start on Saturday, October 27 with the championship match the following Saturday, November 3.
The winner of that match will receive the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
